13th Annual Beech Historic Cemetery Tour

The Beech Historic Cemetery Association has an annual Cemetery Tour held the 3nd Saturday night of October each year.

This year the tour will be on October 21, 2017.

Tours begin at 4 p.m. and will continue with the last tour being at 8 o’clock in the evening.

Rides are made available for those who have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces or
who feel they cannot walk along the candle lighted path.

The cost is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 6 to 12, and free for children under six.

All donations to the cemetery are also accepted and appreciated.

During the tour you will witness the stories of those buried in the Beech Historic Cemetery as individuals deliver a monologue and even sometimes answer questions causing their stories to come to life on this one special night.  You will learn about the history of the cemetery and hear stories of the people buried there by actors in period dress.  Stops will be made at individual resting places of some of the people, who helped to settle, grew up, lived and died in this part of Sumner County.  Stories are told of their time here, and how the area was as they remember it.  The stories include history and human interest.  The tour will be about an hour and is family friendly.

The tour is sponsored by businesses and individuals who make a donation for the support of the cemetery tour.  These are listed on advertisements posted in the area prior to the tour and programs handed out at the tour.  If you would like to be included, please provide the name, address, or contact information, or a business card.  Your name will be added to our mailing list of notice concerning the tour.

You may be a part of a tour.  We need information and stories of people you know that are buried here.  The tour is guided by tour guides, there are travelers along the way, and following the tour you may stop by at a display for each of the people on the tour.  The display will be located in the Christian Life Center.

This is all put together by volunteers that are interested in the cemetery.  If you are interested please feel free to contact one of the members of the Board of Trustees, or the church office at (615)824-3990.  The office can put you in touch with someone who can help you.

The proceeds from the tour go to the maintenance and up-keep of the cemetery.

Of similar note, on the night of the tour, a chili and soup supper will be available for and additional cost.  While it is not a part of the tour, it does take place in conjunction with the tour.  All proceeds from this go benefit either the Youth Ministry or the Mother's Day Out ministry of the church.
